“What do you want in a director of photography? A killer eye and first rate technical skills, obviously. But also, a great attitude: a warm-hearted person who really connects with your subjects and is a pleasure to travel with in the most extreme circumstances. And finally, someone who is deeply engaged with the content, finding unexpected visual details that light up the very soul of your story.

I've worked with a lot of shooters over the past 20 years - Ralf Oberti combines all of these rare qualities like no one else. And he does it all with elegance, seriousness, and style.”

"The first assignment with Ralf was on a documentary for the French television in the wonderful scenery of Tierra del Fuego, in the Patagonia region, at the border between Chile and Argentina. Working conditions were difficult and I then discovered the talent and character of Ralf, a cinematographer who perfectly combines the finesse of gaze and a total concentration on work.

Ralf has since become a friend and a wonderful work companion. We made several films in South America and the United States, and each time I was happy to have shared these unique moments with him."

“Ralf Oberti is one of the smartest and most versatile editors I've ever worked with. As we collaborated on my latest documentary film (and it was true, mutually respectful collaboration), our discussions came alive on the screen. While a true craftsman, Ralf also has the ability to transcend your nonlinear editing system to build a story that connects and engages with your intended audience. I look forward to working with him on my next project”.
